11th Annual Lakefest Celebration and Annual Meeting
The Cayuga Lake Watershed Network celebrates its annual summer event,
Lakefest, at Goose Watch Winery in Romulus on Saturday August 23,
2008. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Network, and we
are returning to the location of Lakefest 1. We are also returning
to a simpler celebration, concentrating on the Network's support
for the economy and preservation of our watershed. See schedule
details to the right.
The public is invited to a free picnic lunch at noon, provided
courtesy of local contributors including Goulds
Pumps, and the Network, topped off by cookies provided
by Watershed Network volunteers. While eating and chatting with
others interested in the health and beauty of the watershed, you
will be entertained by the mellow tunes of folk musicians from Canada,
The Hunter Family.

Following lunch, there will be educational as well as fun-filled
activities for young and old. Displays from local agencies interested
in the environment, including the ever-popular interactive models
of pollutants traveling through the soil, will be available all
afternoon. Once again, kids will be able to explore fossil, and
special for the kids are planned.

Children can read stories about water to Jack, a trained Reading
Education Assistance Dog. This will be Jack’s third year at
Lakefest. Seneca
Community Players promise attendees a treat. Scattered
throughout the early afternoon, valuable door prizes will be given
out and a silent auction for larger items will be terminated at
3:30pm.
This year's David
Morehouse Award and awards for Lake
Friendly Farms as well as volunteer recognition awards
will be announced at the beginning of our annual member's meeting.
Last
year's Lakefest provided hands-on
educational activities relating to the Watershed by several organizations,
as well as some of the same entertainment.
