Red-tailed hawks are raptors; they eat lots of meat, and have sharp hooked beaks and talons.

The easiest way to spot a Red-tailed Hawk is, of course, its red tail!

You'll see Red-tailed Hawks sitting by fields on telephone wires and trees, waiting to spot a tasty rodent in the grass. They also like to circle around without flapping their wings, getting ready to dive and catch a meal or to impress a lady hawk!

Red-tailed Hawks have a great voice. When you hear a loud screech off in a field, there is probably a hawk nearby!
